Zbrush, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag

This is Bjorn, and he is a very jolly baker. For my first ZBrush sculpt, I wanted to make a character who told a unique story. Bjorn is a war-hardened Viking who has fought in many battles and yearns for a new path in life. He finds a new passion in baking. Bjorn still wears his rugged Viking clothes, but with the addition of a fun new apron!

Before diving into ZBrush, I wanted to develop a solid idea of what Bjorn looked like, his color palette, and the amount of contrast between his Viking elements and his softer baker elements, so I created a turnaround of him.

Next, I sculpted him in ZBrush. I wanted to maintain stylized realism, so I included stylized hair juxtaposed against his more realistic anatomy and clothing.

Not only was Bjorn my first venture into ZBrush, it was also my first time using Substance Painter. I made sure I carried the stylized realism throughout the project including the texturing. Finally, I lit and rendered him in Marmoset Toolbag as the finishing touch.
